Charitable year for Spectrum Technologies
07 Jan 2010
Despite the global economic downturn, Spectrum Technologies has managed to continue supporting its selected charities during 2009. For a small company of only 65 staff, they have certainly been very generous over the past year...
Throughout the year we have held a Charity Snack box in the staff canteen, provided through a partnership between the National Blind Childrens Society (NBCS) and Julian Graves. Each of the snacks in the box cost £1, and 10 pence from every £1 spent goes to the NBCS. The charity receives around £4,000 every month through the Charisnack scheme however Spectrum spend approximately £28 to £30 on snacks each month, totalling £360, which equals £36 raised for the NBCS over the year.
Spectrum also supported the Breast Cancer Campaign, by suggesting all staff wear pink on the 30 October and make a donation while doing so. It can be said that some of the Spectrum employees were very imaginative when it came to "wearing pink", especially the men! The total amount raised on this day was £78.45.
At Christmas time we made the decision to order our coporate Christmas cards from UNICEF, making a donation of £75 at the same time. Also for Christmas, the Company took part in the Barnardo's Christmas Raffle raising £62 for the children's charity.
A grand total of £245.45 has been raised this year for the various charities supported by Spectrum, and this doesn't include any activities that staff have decided to do off their own bat, such as sponsored events for Children in Need and Comic Relief as well as for other charities close to their hearts.
